Gabi gabs about this book page break

WOW. wow. just, wow. This was fantastic, it had me since page one. Laure is amazing; her writing style is unique, and utterly beautiful.

Synopsis: “He23208417r dad went crazy. Her mom left town. She has bills to pay and a little sister to look after. Now is not the time for level-headed seventeen-year-old Lucil
le to fall in love. But love—messy, inconvenient love—is what she’s about to experience when she falls for Digby Jones, her best friend’s brother. With blazing longing that builds to a fever pitch, Estelle Laure’s soulful debut will keep readers hooked and hoping until the very last page.”

This book is what I want every book to be. It deals with really heavy issues. Lucille is abandoned and has to watch over her little sister, pay the bills; it’s a struggle to survive. I can’t imagine dealing with high school at the same time. The love in this book is the kind that makes your heart beat fast and maybe even makes your knees wobble. Longing doesn’t even begin to describe it at first, and passionate can’t quite describe it enough in the end.

There are strong friendships being tested, confusing feelings to be dealt with, and a whole lotta things messed up that have to be fixed (or at least handled). Estelle Laure writes a book loaded with emotions, and it left me also drained as I put so much hope in to the life of Lucille, Wren, Digby, and Eden.

Overall impression page break

It is the kind of book I want to put on display in my future library: the kind I want to recommend to every person that breathes; but also the kind of book I love so much that I want to keep it for myself, like a beautiful secret that feels too personal to share.

It’s safe to say this is going on my “all time favorite books” list. I preordered it before I even finished, it was that good.

OVERALL RATING: 5 out of 5 stars!
