5 Reasons why Fantastic Beasts was Magical (and why you should totally go see it!)

fantastic-beasts-pinterest

This is just the first installment in a series of five movies to come from J.K. Rowling and I can’t see where they go with them! Fantastic Beasts was whole and satisfying in itself, but also set up for exciting sequels! I can’t wait, and I am so happy Rowling brought to life another part of the Wizarding World that was just as magical as ever. ♥

Here are my 5 reasons Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is completely magical, and totally worth seeing:

1.  Newt Scamander, Hufflepuff.

Newt is entirely different from the feisty bunch of Gryffindor’s that we focused on in HP. It’s honestly pretty refreshing to have a Hufflepuff main character! He is utterly adorable, and caring, and subtly funny. Newt is a quirky magizoologist, who just wants everyone to understand his beasts as well as he does, and he will win over your heart by the time you leave the theater.

2.  ADORABLE, fantastic beasts

The beasts! They truly are precious. They’re range from the size of your hand to huge flying beasts, and they all have such unique personalities. They are so cute that they will have you saying “awww” multiple times throughout the movie, in addition to being complex and interesting at other times!

3.  The film score is like coming home

If you’re like me, and you go back to listen to the Harry Potter film scores frequently, you’ll love Fantastic Beasts. The score is just as magical as the original HP scores, and incorporates old and new compositions. James Newton Howard composed another magical score that will feel just like coming home to the wizarding world. If you’re curious what the score sounds like, check out this article.

4.  A full cast of interesting characters

Rowling does not disappoint with her full cast of muggle and magical folks in Fantastic Beasts. They are charming and unique, and you’ll be rooting for them the whole time. I couldn’t help but be swept up in their lives as the story unfolded. They’re all wonderful, not just Newt!

5.  Back to the Wizarding World, with a twist

In Fantastic Beasts we are transported to an entirely new version of the Wizarding World we know and love. Set in 1920s New York, there are a whole variety of different terms that will soon become part of your magical vocabulary, such as: No-maj (like Muggle), the Magical Congress of the United State of America, or MCUSA, and more. But don’t worry, it’s full of spells and magic that we know and love too!

If you love Harry Potter, you are going to love Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Rowling truly brought to life the Wizarding World in New York during the roaring twenties. I promise, it’s just as magical as you’re hoping it will be!

Let me know your thoughts on the movie in the comments below! ♥
