Let’s Gab About: The Crown (mini book review)

Something you may not know about me is that I LOVE The Selection series. I most typically describe the series as a YA version of the Bachelor or Bachelorette, which I personally never watched (aside from a few episodes with my bff), and is overall pretty far out of my normal interests.

Anyways, I love this series, and was SO SO excited for The Crown. It’s the fifth, and final, installment in this series, and I wasn’t quite ready for it to end.

The cover is absolutely gorgeous. I love the purple, the dress, all of it.

I love Eadlyn. I think she has grown and grown and grown throughout these two books. I like her even more than her mother, America. She is feisty and rash, but sweet and kind. I think she was a strong, courageous character who grew from a bratty princess into a graceful queen.

The Crown itself was…slightly disappointing? Although the series, when you describe it in general, sounds really cheesy, it never really has been. All the romance and plot lines have been really believable, until now. It was predictable, which is fine, but the dialogue and situations felt fake and forced.

I didn’t love it. BUT, I still love the series as a whole. It’s fun and entertaining and full of swoony romance. Who doesn’t love a good royal romance?

While I hoped for more, it was still a cute and complete way to wrap up the series.

4 out of 5 stars

Yeah! I’m glad that this met your expectations and that you felt it was a worthy conclusion to the series. 🙂 Thanks for sharing and, as always, fantastic review! <3

One of my best friends recommended this series to me, but I haven’t gotten around to reading it yet! I think part of the problem is it doesn’t sound like something I’d typically read. Every positive review I see, though, makes me want to read it more!

Great review! I’m so glad that book met your expectations and that you thought it was a fitting ending to the series. I have been reading quite some disappointed reviews about all of this, but yours made me impatient to get to that book again 🙂
